Beach volleyball

Beach volleyball is a popular summertime activity in Vancouver and the Vancouver Park Board does a wonderful job of setting aside public sand volleyball courts where Vancouverites and tourists alike can play a game or two on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lifeguards at these beaches sign-out nets to the public, free of charge, but participants must supply their own ball.

Where to pick up a game

1. English Bay at First Beach (at Beach Avenue between Gilford and Bidwell Streets) - 2 courts

2. Sunset Beach (east of English Bay on Beach Avenue between Thurlow and Bute Streets) - 1 court

3. Kitsilano Beach (waterfront north end of Yew Street) - 7 courts

4. Jericho Beach (between the north ends of Wallace and Discovery Streets) - 2 courts

5. Locarno Beach (west of Trimble to Tolmie Streets on North West Marine Drive at the picnic site) - 6 courts

6. Spanish Bank East (west of Tolmie Street on North West Marine Drive) - 7 courts

7. Spanish Bank West (west of Spanish Banks East on North West Marine Drive) - 8 courts

8. Shaughnessy Street (at the foot of Shaughnessy Street by the Fraser River) - 4 courts
